A Cut(or Stab, or Crush, or Slash) Above the Rest One of rs2's most popular features is the new fighting style. Letting you chose what type of attack you want to use completely changes the way people do combat. Of course, each type of weapon has different attacks it can use, and different benefits associated with each attack type. If comparing weapon aim, weapon power, armor, magic, and prayer ratings to determine the use of a weapon (or armor, or amulet, etc), was too much before, the new rs2 armor/weapon rating system will be overwhelming. Now, each equipment either adds or subtracts for a rating in each of the following: (attack bonus: stab, slash, crush, magic, range. defense bonus: stab, slash, crush, magic, range, and other bonus: strength, prayer). The attack bonuses pump up the type of attack you are using, be it stab slash crush, bow and arrows (did I forget to mention you can fire arrows at point-blank?) or the new attack option, auto-mage. Auto-mage lets you attack with a single spell automatically. You chose which spell, then it auto-mages the opponent (not that you do not to damage with a staff while you are doing this), but it is for staves only. Defense helps prevent damage from a certain type of attack. Metal armor specializes in range defense, leather armor specializes in magic defense, and robe armor specializes in weapon defense. In other words, melee beats range beats magic beats melee. But I digress. The most exciting part of the new attack system is also the one that will probably get players the angriest. Now... weapons attack at different speeds. Which gives us an actual reason to get different types of weapons. Daggers for example get two attacks for each attack made by a two handed sword.
